Lebanon may face the same fate as Gaza, according to United Nations officials.
"We are seeing the very designs that we found in Gaza, the very means and techniques for fighting that are being utilized," Jeremy Laurence, representative for the UN's basic liberties chief, told a press preparation in Geneva Tuesday.
“As a consequence of this, civilians are paying the ultimate price, whether it be the closure of hospitals, the displacement of a million people, the deaths of civilians, or the disruption of schools. As in Gaza, the devastation is beyond comprehension for everyone in Lebanon. Laurence went on to say, "We can't let this happen again."
According to UNICEF spokesperson James Elder, the similarities between Gaza and Lebanon can be found "everywhere."
“Look at the massive displacement, if we look at the ferocity of the initial attacks, the language used. Take a look at the sheer number of individuals forced to relocate, Elder stated. Sadly, there are certain similarities that can be seen.
