At least 22 people killed by Israeli bombardment in northern Gaza, rescuers say

Emergency responders reported on Saturday that Israeli bombardment of the city of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of at least 22 individuals.

The head of emergency services in northern Gaza, Fares Afana, said that the bodies were taken to Al-Ahli Baptist hospital.

In addition to the deaths, Afana stated that there were injuries and "a number of missing still under the rubble."

The Israel Defense Forces have been contacted by CNN for comment.

Multiple overnight airstrikes had destroyed multiple houses in a densely populated Jabalya neighborhood, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Wafa cited emergency responders to report at least 30 injured and 14 missing.

Rescue efforts are continuing.

The head of the emergency services in northern Gaza said that on Saturday, more strikes hit the Jabalya refugee camp, where explosions have continued.

In advance of planned military operations on Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have instructed additional residents of Jabalya and Nazla, which are located just north of Gaza City, to relocate south. At the same time, the Gaza Ministry of Interior urged residents not to leave their homes in the areas where the Israeli army issued a warning this morning.
