British Foreign Secretary David Lamy
called reports of Israeli attacks on Lebanese medical facilities and aid workers "deeply worrying" in a post on X on Saturday. Lamy also called for "an immediate ceasefire on both sides to allow Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return home." On Thursday, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said 37 medical facilities in southern Lebanon had been forced to close and at least 28 medical workers had died in the past 24 hours alone. On Friday, Marjayoun State Hospital, near the Israel-Lebanon border, was evacuated after the area in front of its main gate came under Israeli military fire, killing seven people, said Dr. Marjayoun, the hospital's director. Mones Karakish told CNN. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment. Also on Friday, Israeli forces struck near the Martyrs' Salah Ghandour Hospital in Bint Jbeil after ordering the area to be evacuated, the Lebanese state news agency reported. The airstrike hit a mosque next to the hospital, which Israel said was being used as a command center by Hezbollah. Nine medical workers were injured and the hospital was evacuated, state media said.
