Israeli military says it captured Hezbollah fighter in southern Lebanon

Sunday, the Israeli military claimed to have stormed one of Hezbollah's tunnels and hideouts in southern Lebanon and captured a Hezbollah fighter.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), "The forces surrounded the building, examined the tunnel shaft, and located a Hezbollah terrorist was entrenched, along with weaponry and equipment for long-term stay, in an underground complex about 50 meters deep."

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released a video showing a man exiting a tunnel shaft in his underwear and sneakers. He should be visible holding his hands up as he gives up to Israeli warriors.

The alleged fighter is obscured in the video, probably to hide his identity. Prisoners of war are required to be protected from "public curiosity" under the Geneva Conventions.

The IDF expressed that in the wake of giving up, the Hezbollah warrior was examined, captured and moved to "a detainment office for additional examination inside the country."

A representative of Hezbollah denied that any of its fighters or members had been captured in response to CNN's inquiry. In response to the Israeli military statement that was posted on X, the official stated, "Not true."
