A man has been taken into custody by the US Department of Justice for allegedly preparing a terrorist attack on Election Day in the name of the Islamic State.
Prosecutors say that the suspect, 27-year-old Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, is from Afghanistan and lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In a statement released on Tuesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated, "This defendant, motivated by ISIS, allegedly conspired to commit a violent attack, here on our homeland, on Election Day."
According to the FBI, he had attempted to accumulate firearms, liquidated his family's assets, and relocated family members overseas.
